The German National Tourist Board Adds Cryptocurrency Payments For Services-GNTB

The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) announced that travelers, both international and local, now have full freedom to pay for their sojourns in Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies. The GNTB promotes German destination with offices in 33 countries around the world.

With nations like Japan, Netherlands, Switzerland adopting a friendly stance towards cryptocurrency and blockchain innovations, it is becoming clear that this Technology is seeping into diverse domains of everyday life across the globe.

Accepting Cryptocurrencies to Drive Innovation

Services offered by the German National Tourism Center can now be paid in cryptocurrencies.The GNTB which promotes Germany as a travel destination accepts cryptocurrency payments from March this year, according to a press release. The organization announced medium-term plan to test blockchain technology in the processing of its international financial transactions.

By accepting Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as a form of payment for its services and with the possible implementation of the blockchain technology in its finances, they want to position themselves as an innovation driver in the tourism industry.

The organization also notes the blockchain technologies have “interesting perspectives” to offer when you consider transparency, speed and security of financial transfers.

Within our digitization strategy, we are constantly examining the latest technologies and considering their application in our organization,” said board’s chairperson, Petra Hedorfer.
